There is a war in Ukraine. The big city is under constant shelling, Russian missiles are destroying residential buildings. The mobilized are sent to the front. Civilians are hiding in the subway and basements, sitting without electricity, trying to survive. And the snow-covered streets are swept by a black drift that no one sees. An angry, hungry black drift.
No one? Some people still see.

The living must be saved. But, as it turns out, it is not only the living who need to be saved. The black ground and the tenants, who by the will of fate found themselves next to the living, will bring together police sergeant Roman Golosiy and the boy Valerka, two unusual people - and from this moment their common story will begin, or rather, the twelve stories of this book.
The novel Black Ground was written by Dmitry Gromov and Oleg Ladyzhensky in 2023, from January to November - step by step, chapter by chapter, to the accompaniment of air raid sirens.
