Description: An anthology that offers a very broad panorama of the vitality and variety of French poetry for over a thousand years, making it a reference work on the history of poetry and its evolution. A book whose reading presents itself as a pleasant, surprising and stimulating walk, through 11 chapters corresponding to 11 eras: From the "Great clarity of the Middle Ages" (842-1328) with the song of Roland or Chrétien de Troyes, to "Today's poetry" (since 1936) with illustrious (Butor, Yves Bonnefoy) and lesser-known (Daniel Biga, Patrice Delbourg) poets. A twelfth chapter is devoted to the poetry of other French-speaking countries (Switzerland, Belgium, Quebec, Maghreb, black Africa...). This work should allow not only to find already known texts or authors but also to discover new ones, in particular in the contemporary period.
