Description:
Jeu de fables language game - educational board game for children for French, teaching vocabulary and grammar rules - a game for memorizing, listening comprehension and expanding vocabulary.
Game with instructions in French and Polish.
Jeu de fables is a language board game for children, set in fairy-tale realities, combining learning French with learning about traditional children's fairy tales and guessing about knowledge about them.
The nature of the game (leading type of game): board, card, quiz
Difficulty level: Beginner - Basic (A1-A2)
Age range: children from 7 years of age (as well as teenagers, adolescents and adults who are not disturbed by fairy-tale topics)
Number of players: 2-5 people (or 2-5 groups of several people)
The number of proposed variants of the game : 2 (individual players or teams)
The basic form of the game : The players have at their disposal a board with five thematic paths on which the pawns move. Each path is accompanied by a set of cards with questions about one of the following fairy tales: Alice au pays des merveilles, Hansel et Gretel, Le Livre de la jungle, Les Musiciens de Brême . The players throw the dice and move their pawns by answering the quiz questions read from the cards with a choice of A, B or C. Stopping on selected special fields means additional tasks such as moving forward or losing the queue. The winner is the player or team that first moves a pawn along the path of all five fairy tales and thus ends the game.
The game comes with texts of individual fairy tales at the A1-A2 language level, so that as part of the introduction to the game, you can familiarize children with their content and new vocabulary.
Language objectives :
• learning vocabulary and simple grammar rules,
• practicing listening comprehension skills,
• practicing forms of communication.
The game is used:
- in teaching French in primary school (first modern foreign language in grades 1 to 8; modern second foreign language in grades 7 to 8; additional optional language in grades 1 to 8),
- in language schools completing French language courses at A1 and A2 levels,
- at home (games with children and family, party games or private French lessons).
Possibility of use in distance education : The game in a simplified form can be used in online teaching by using the functions of e-learning platforms that enable image transfer in real time.
Additional benefits: The Jeu de fables language game improves mental skills such as concentration and creativity, and teaches activity and healthy competition, and its ludic character helps to establish social relations with other participants of the game and has a positive effect on reducing the distance between the student and the teacher.
Instructions: next to the instructions in French, the game includes instructions in Polish containing:
- methodological introduction for teachers, parents and the players themselves,
- suggestions for educational games and exercises.
An additional instruction in Polish is also a convenience for people who do not know the foreign language sufficiently to read the original, French-language version of the instruction, as well as the ability to independently manage language and educational games with children or peers.
The game was developed on the basis of the criteria of the European System for the Description of Language Education (Cadre Européen Commun de Référence) - level A1-A2
