IDIOMS GAME,THE (A2-B1) (LET'S PLAY IN ENGLISH)
The Idioms Game is a useful card game which helps players discover the meaning of some of the most common idioms in English. The game aims to broaden players' knowledge of English and to improve their listening and reading skills. Lower intermediate level (CEFR A2-B1).
The game consists of 132 cards divided into two decks: one deck of cards with pictures illustrating the idioms and the other containing cards showing three possible meanings for each idiom. There is only one correct option.
HOW TO PLAY
The game leader distributes the picture cards amongst the players. Then the cards with the idioms and the options are placed face down in the centre of the table. The first player starts the game by taking an option card and reading the idiom aloud. The player with the corresponding picture card puts his hand up, listens to the three options and tries to say which one is correct.
The winner is the player or team which has the most matching pairs.
