Description:
When Fergal Flynn's remarkable singing talent is discovered by world-famous opera star Alfredo Moretti, the young man leaves his native Belfast and sets out for Rome, where he will undergo training to become an opera singer. In a city of culture and beauty, he is an innocent abroad, and Fergal finds his life turned upside-down as he tries to adjust to this new, mysterious world. And when Fintan arrives on the scene - a young man from a background altogether different to his - Fergal struggles with his difficult past in an attempt to bridge the gulf between them and discover what love really is. Moving from the modern age back through the decades, 'Roman Song' also tells the story of Fintan's parents - Amelia, the beautiful, widowed countess, and Mario Fischetti, world-renowned singer, who meet during a tour of Tosca - and the strange love triangle that surrounds their union. 'Roman Song' is as enchanting as its predecessor, as Fergal spreads his wings and begins to make his mark on a world full of promise, and sometimes danger.
Review:
'* 'An impressive achievement' Dermot Bolger - Sunday Tribune * 'An intriguing and superbly constructed story' - Sunday World * 'A perfect blend of pathos and humour...sensitively written' - Ireland on Sunday * 'Highly recommended' - Woman's Way'
