He calls himself the Beijing Ripper. His victims are young, beautiful and viciously mutilated. Li Yan, the head of Beijing's serious crime squad has been put in the spotlight. When American pathologist Margaret Campbell is invited to perform the autopsy on one of the victims her results send shockwaves through the investigation. Then Li begins receiving personal letters from the killer, and his life and career start falling apart. The need to uncover the Ripper's identity becomes paramount if he is to save himself and his family from ruin.
Review:
'A grisly, gruesome thriller...An accomplished pulse-racer of a novel...This book is more than just a run of the mill whodunit -- think Silence of the Lambs crossed with Quincy.' Daily Record on CHINESE WHISPERS 20040117 'A fascinating series, although this book, with its detailed autopsy of the dismembered victims, is not for those with weak stomachs.' -- The Sunday Telegraph on THE KILLING ROOM 20040117 'An intelligently written book, crafted with confident knowledge of the Chinese police system!Well-researched and superbly handled, the unfolding plot is ingenious.' Aberdeen Press and Journal 20040124 'A gripping thriller' -- The Mirror on THE FIREMAKER 20040124 'Fast and exciting ... highly topical, this is an entertaining read that will also give its readers food for thought' -- The Irish Times on SNAKEHEAD 20040124
