First Comprehension Book 1 (Key Stages 1/2)(Ages 5-7)

First Comprehension 1: Year 2, Ages 6-7 First Comprehension provides an early introduction to written comprehension, developing children’s enthusiasm for reading and their ability to interpret texts. A downwards extension of the award-winning Key Stage 2 Comprehension, First Comprehension is suitable for children who have not previously attempted formal written comprehension. The carefully selected texts – 18 per book – reflect the range of genres recommended by the National Curriculum and will interest both boys and girls. On the page facing each text, questions are presented in two Parts – which may be answered in one sitting or separately: they include multiple choice, personal comment and sentence completion activities. Children are encouraged to read closely and accurately, and to evaluate and interpret every text. First Comprehension Book 1 is aimed at children in Year 2 (ages 6–7) who are attempting written comprehension for the first time.
