After school, having failed at most of his 'O' levels including Art and History, he went on to Harrow Art School and onto The Royal College of Art where he successfully obtained an MA in Design. He worked for many years as a commercial illustrator and cartoonist but at the age of 41 decided that he wanted a complete change so he started writing. John Farman now lives in London.
