His first book, Don't Call Me by My Right Name, reprinted in this edition, had to be printed privately in the United States in 1956, after first being published in Britain.

Author Biography: James Purdy, born in 1914, is undergoing a literary renaissance. The author of Malcolm and Cabot Wright Begins, he lived in New York until his death in 2009.
